Back to School Night

September 9, 2021

Dear Bruin Families,

Welcome to our Back to School Night information page. Due to continued concerns regarding bringing groups of people together during the pandemic, all district schools are conducting Back to School Night virtually this year. Information typically delivered by teachers during Back to School Night is available via the video links posted below. Even though we are not able to conduct all the events and activities that we usually would, it has been great to see students at school full-time and engaged in clubs, athletics, music, and other activities.

As we work to provide students sound academics as well as a positive social experience, there are two initiatives that we are working on this year. The first is Flex Time. We have had some initial challenges with Flex Time scheduling software, but believe that we are now in a position to move forward beginning the week of September 20. Flex Time is a 33 minute period that will take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays with the goal of providing students opportunities to receive additional help from teachers, make up missed work, complete school work, or engage in positive social activities. The second is Capturing Kids Hearts. Prior to the start of school, nearly 50 Ponderosa teachers attended a two-day training focused on strengthening teacher-to-student and student-to-student relationships. Research shows that two of the greatest indicators of academic success are having a highly qualified teacher and students having a positive connection to school. Our hope is to continue to build positive connections that enable students to be academically and socially successful.

Thank you for engaging in your student’s education by viewing the information on this page. You can find your student’s list of teachers in Aeries under classes or gradebook. We look forward to a successful school year.
